Excessive
sweating and hyperhidrosis treatment
with Maxim® antiperspirant
Excessive
sweating
or a condition known as hyperhidrosis
is defined by excessive perspiration.
Excessive sweating afflicts nearly
seven million Americans today according
to the American Academy of Dermatologists.
Many treatments are available to treat
hyperhidrosis and excessive sweating,
but most of the treatments promote
a surgery called ETS, or endoscopic
thoracic sympathectomy. ETS can be
very effective but it is very expensive
at a cost of nearly $15,000-$20,000.
Some insurance plans will pay for
this and some won't. ETS can have
significant side effects including
for an overwhelming amount of patients,
compensatory sweating or CS. This
occurs because the nerves that provide
chemicals to your major sweat gland
called the skin, are severed and the
chemicals can no longer reach basically
your skin above the stomach. Therefore
a significant percentage of your body's
skin is unable to provide perspiration
that allows you to cool. It is my
experience in dealing with hundreds
of patients who have had this surgery
that the surgeons do not emphasize
this fact enough and what the true
percentage of patients who get this
horrible side effect. There are some
good surgeons out there, but obtain
a list of dissatisfied patients from
them and talk to them as well as the
"good" patients.
If
you are simplying trying to eliminate
your excessive sweating under your
armpits, 99% of the these patients
are certainly not in need of any type
of surgery. Surgery should be a last
resort for anyone. Underarm sweat
stains and odor can also
result in costly dry cleaning bills.
Maxim® has been formulated for
severe sweating and hyperhidrosis.
Maxim® is recommended by Doctors,
pharmacists and surgeons to treat
patients with moderate to severe hyperhidrosis.
Hyperhidrosis
and excessive sweating can
be caused by a number of different
factors including hormonal changes,
adolescence, pregnancy, menopause
and obesity or what is called "idiopathic"
hyperhidrosis where the cause is simply
not known. Hyperhidrosis and excessive
sweating can occur a person's whole
life. For others, it will cease after
a season or two. Excessive sweating
can be cured with the use of Maxim®
antiperspirant. A recent marketing
survey of nearly 300 customers showed
that a majority of patients who have
used Maxim® antiperspirant only
need to apply Maxim® roughly two
to three times every week. This makes
Maxim® a very clear choice for
eliminating perrspiration problems.
